TGS: Final Fantasy Agito XIII Quick Look
Back in the closed theater at Square Enix's Tokyo Game Show booth, those that waited in line could view a series of trailers for Square's upcoming games. The reel began with a few Kingdom Hearts games before closing with a grand finale. The last two very brief trailers were for Final Fantasy Agito XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
As this was the Tokyo Game Show, the entire reel was in Japanese. IGN was told that those trailers we saw will be released publicly soon with an English dub. In the case of Agito, that means you'll get a look at a few nice rendered cutscenes, some gameplay, and chocobos. No surprise there -- the yellow birds are back and in Agito.
The gameplay looked like it was all happening in real-time in slightly open battlefields. The enemies were massive machines, not at all unlike some of the enemies faced in Final Fantasy XIII on PS3 and Xbox 360.
It's tough to discern many plot details from this brief snippet, though it does appear to confirm previous reports of a story about crystals and an overbearing empire. The first couple of seconds flashed images of royal crests before flashing to combat.
When will we get solid details on Final Fantasy Agito XIII? It appears the wait is almost over. The Square Enix hype reel closed with the info that a special event with more details on all of the company's games would occur on January 11, 2011.
