Nvidia's GeForce GTS 450 boasts fast DirectX 11 performance for mainstream games with a very competitive $129 price tag.
PC gamers are always looking for the most graphics performance for their money, and Nvidia is wading into the holiday PC accessories market with its GeForce GTS 450 graphics card, which the company claims is designed to deliver the best price-to-performance ratio at mainstream display resolution amongst cards in the $130 price range. Nvidia boasts the GTS 450 is up to 65 percent caster than its competitors at tessellation, and up to 30 percent faster at DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 games—and by “competitors” it means the ATI Radeon HD 5750, which has been racking up solid business at the $130 price point.
The GeForce GTS 450 features 192 CUDA cores, a 783 MHz graphics block and a 1,566 MHz processor clock; the card comes with 1 GB of GDDR5 video memory and uses a 128-bit memory bus. Nvidia’s 3D Vision and SLI (2-way) technologies are supported, along with OpenGL 4.0 and Nvidia’s PhysX physics engine. The card was a PCI-E 2.0 ×16 bus and supports a maximum display resolution of 2,560 by 1,600 pixels. Nvidia has been hyping the overclocking capabilities of the GTS 450, which means folks looking to craft their ultimate budget gaming rigs might have all sorts of fun playing with the card.
